Suffolk Open Studios 2021

I am still a member of Suffolk Open studios but I won’t physically be opening up my studio to the public (as with 2020) due to restrictions and concerns about the Coronavirus pandemic.

In 2019 Allan will open up his studio to visitors for three weekends as part of Suffolk Open Studios. Allan will again be working at the beautiful and unique studio space of the old windmill in Earl Soham from 11am to 5pm each day.

Allan’s studio is part of the Suffolk Open Studios ‘Earl Soham to Hasketon’ Trail.

This year, Allan will be opening up his studio to visitors for three weekends as part of Suffolk Open Studios. Allan will again be working at the beautiful and unique studio space of the old windmill in Earl Soham (which has had a new thatched roof since last year) from 11am to 5pm each day.

Suffolk Artists exhibition, Woodbridge Library

Throughout August 2016

This August Allan is exhibiting some artworks as part of an exhibition of the work of Suffolk artists. 50% of the proceeds of any sales made through the exhibition will be donated to UNICEF.

Pigs Gone Wild, Ipswich

27 June-2 September 2016

The streets of Ipswich have been taken over by stunning pig sculptures as part of the highly anticipated Pigs Gone Wild interactive art trail and Allan has created a unique pig for the event.

“The glamorous Piggy Stardust, created by Allan Williams, is sure to dazzle the residents of Ipswich with his star power and prowess. A tribute to David Bowie, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, Piggy’s flair adds a glam-rock edge to the Pigs Gone Wild trail. Piggy played guitar – and boy, could he play!”

You can see Piggy Stardust for yourself until 2 September on St Nicholas Street in Ipswich next to the statue of Cardinal Wolsey. You can also follow the trail to see the other 38 pigs.

Artist-in-residence at Burton Agnes Hall

16-30th April 2014

I will be artist-in-residence at the beautiful Burton Agnes Hall, Yorkshire from 16-30th April 2014.

Simon Jenkins, author of England’s Thousand Best Houses, described Burton Agnes Hall as ‘the perfect English house’ and as one of the twenty best English houses alongside Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace and Chatsworth House.

Art Bridges The Gap

2-30 November 2013, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays

Theronda Hoffman, local Suffolk artist, is organising an art exhibition at Kesgrave Arts, Kesgrave, Ipswich during the month of November 2013 and raising funds for Age UK Suffolk who are celebrating 65 years of providing services for older people in Suffolk.

The exhibition ‘Art Bridges The Gap‘ will feature a variety of work by Suffolk Open Studio artists, including Chris Deacon, Allan Williams, Colin Slee, Edmund Oxborrow, Anne Trueman, Ray Burgoyne, Richard Cox, Theronda Hoffman as well as paintings by her students. Artists will be displaying their work with a percentage being donated to Age UK Suffolk.

Theronda Hoffman said “I am very keen to promote art in Suffolk and to encourage people of all ages to become creative, particularly older people who often find art classes beneficial both socially and creatively“. She continued “I really wanted to support Age UK Suffolk, who provide so many valuable services for older people in Suffolk and am very please do offer my studio and art space for the exhibition. I would like to thank all the artists who are taking part in the exhibition”.

Portrait Exhibition at The Gallery Highwaymans

6-28 July 2013

The exhibition runs from 6 to 28 July, with the Private View on Friday, 5 July. It is featuring three portraits by Mary Beale from the St Edmundsbury collection in anticipation of the Sainsbury Centre exhibition, Masterpieces: Art and East Anglia.

The Private View will be a fundraising event, to raise money to lend the Mary Beale self portrait to the Sainsbury Centre exhibition.

Allan’s Before London 2012 artwork will be exhibited at this East London gallery. Accompanying the artwork are photographs of the Athletes’ Village site as it is now. The end result is a visual delight and a valuable archive for the people of Newham.
