About

Allan Williams

Allan creates artwork that engages the viewer at different levels: visual, emotional and linguistic. His work is figurative, highly detailed and features illusionism or ‘trompe l’oeil’ effects. Some of his pictures could be termed ‘surreal’ particularly the ones that develop from chance arrangement of images or those which are suggested by forms created by blowing ink across a sheet of paper. The puns in the titles reflect the deliberate visual ambiguity of the images.

Other paintings are acutely observed renditions of nature such as in Allan’s paintings of Covehithe and Benacre.

Allan works mainly in acrylic or oils on canvas; watercolour and acrylic on paper; and digital prints from computer generated images. He also reproduces many of his paintings as limited edition giclée prints.
